Lance Armstrong Autographed MS69 Silver Eagle Dollars

In July 2005, cyclist Lance Armstrong made history when he won his seventh consecutive Tour de France race.  The Tour de France is considered the ultimate race, and the winner is often hailed as one of the world’s greatest athletes.  To win it seven times in a row places Armstrong in elite company, along with the likes of immortals such as Babe Ruth and Michael Jordan.  What’s even more amazing is that Armstrong achieved this feat as a cancer survivor.

Following his seventh Tour de France victory, Armstrong agreed to create a one-of-a-kind collectible as part of the American Heroes series sponsored by PCGS – a U.S. Silver Eagle Dollar certified by one of the world’s most respected independent coin grading companies.  The stunning U.S. Silver Eagle Dollar has been independently certified by PCGS and PERSONALLY SIGNED BY LANCE ARMSTRONG.

The coin was struck by the U.S. Mint in one ounce of .999 pure silver and is the largest and heaviest silver coin in U.S. history.  Appropriately, the coin is a tribute to Liberty and shows one of the most beautiful coin designs of all time.  Lady Liberty is striding forwards in a flowing gown and wrapped by the American flag.  This design was first used on U.S. Silver Half Dollars from 1916-1947.

After the 2000 Olympics, Armstrong was diagnosed with testicular cancer that had spread to his lungs and his brain.  Given only a 50% chance of survival, he fought back with chemotherapy and a course of treatment that gave him a chance for a full recovery.  Miraculously, he beat cancer and returned to racing.  At the same time, he formed the Lance Armstrong Foundation to help others with their cancer struggles.

In 1999, Armstrong won the Tour de France for the first time.  He competed in the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympic Games, winning a bronze medal in the individual time trial. Over the years, Armstrong has been awarded virtually every sports honor there is, and has become a symbol of hope and inspiration.  He also continues to be a leader and activist on behalf of cancer survivors around the world.
