Austria’s Silver Philharmonic is one of the world’s most popular and beautiful silver bullion coins.  Struck in one full ounce of precious .999 silver, the coin is a tribute to Austria’s long and glorious tradition of supporting classical music.  Austria was the birthplace of legendary composers such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Schubert, and of the world-famous Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.  The new 2012 Silver Philharmonic is struck by the Austrian Mint in Vienna (one of Europe’s most renowned Mints), and its silver purity and weight are guaranteed by the Central Bank of Austria.  One side of the coin features musical instruments (string bass, violins, cello, bassoon, harp, and horn), while the other side depicts the great organ in the Golden Hall in Vienna’s Musikverein concert hall.  It is the first silver coin to be denominated in Euros.

The coin offered here is the most perfect example possible: Brilliant Uncirculated, in flawless MS70 grade.  It is also an “Inaugural Strike,” meaning it was one of the first Austrian Philharmonics struck in 2012.  Only 261 coins have been certified as “Inaugural Strike” in perfect MS70 condition, and each coin has been serially numbered within the edition.  Each coin is sonically-sealed within a clear plastic holder by ANACS, one of the world’s most respected coin grading companies.  The coins are labeled with the serial number as well as the ANACS hologram seal and bar code that identifies the coin and the holder as genuine.
