Last Silver U.S. Mint Proof Sets 1960–1964
This 1960 to 1964 set of U.S. Mint Proof coins includes all 5 coins from each year–in original government shrink-wrapped packaging. The 1964 Proof set is notable because it contains the first Kennedy Half Dollar ever minted and the ONLY Kennedy to be minted from 90% silver. Proof coins are rarer than their made-for-circulation counterparts and are notable for their highly polished mirror- bright surface.
These coins represent the very last solid silver proof sets ever minted because starting in 1965, our government no longer minted these coins from silver. Struck in very limited quantities, the coins are well over 50 years old and are as mint fresh as the day they were first produced. Their relative rarity and beauty make these long out-of-issue coins highly sought after by collectors.
