The 90% silver Washington Quarter was first issued in 1932 to honor the 200th anniversary of George Washington’s birth.  Washington was one of America’s greatest patriots and is renowned as the “Father of our Nation.”  In addition to leading America’s fight against the British in the American Revolution, he was also instrumental in creating the Constitution and served as America’s first President.

Originally intended as a one-year-only commemorative coin, the quarter appealed to the public so much that it was brought back as the regular issue design in 1934.  The 1932 coins were widely popular, and heavily used, which means that many of the remaining quarters are worn out or damaged.  We searched through thousands of silver quarters to find coins in exceptional AU (About Uncirculated) condition.  Each coin is encapsulated in clear plastic for preservation and protection.
